Rafting Treks in India

1.
Ripchar Valley Trek : 11 days in Ladakh
A very interesting trek beginning at Lamayuru and walking up the less traveled Ripchar valley with its small villages, nomadic settlements and pastures where we see a wide variety of flowers from end of July to end of August and birds too.

2.
Zanskar Trek : 18 days in Ladakh
The classic Ladakh trek, which goes right into the heart of the Zanskar. This trek takes one into the remote villages and some out of the world landscape.

3.
Goecha La Trek. : 14 days in Sikkim
For the people of Sikkim, Kanchenjunga is more than just the third highest peak in the world; it is believed to be the abode of the state’s patron diety. This trek takes one right up close to the big mountain, through forests of rhododendrons, orchids, pine and magnolia. to the higher valleys and the rolling meadows used for grazing by the gentle yak-herding Lepchas.

4.
Malana Village Trek : 7 days in Himachal
Little ahead of the beautiful Chandra Khanni Pass lies the tiny village of Malana, an isolated community that has its own language, customs and laws, governed by a parliament of village elders called Koram. Beware! It’s not like the other friendly village. Seek permission before you take pictures and don’t try touching the temple walls or the villagers as the outsiders are considered unclean.

5.
Hampta Pass (4270m) : 8 days in Himachal
A short trek which leads from the lush greens of the Kullu valley to the barren landscape of the Chandra valley. The trail goes right up to the base of the high mountains of Deotibba and Indrasan (both 6000m plus) peaks and crosses over at the Hampta Pass.

6.
Indrahar Pass : 10 days in Himachal
Starting from McLeodganj (Dharamsala) at about 6000ft in the Kangra valley and passing over the mighty snowbound Dhauladhar, the trail ends at Lamu in the Ravi valley. The trail is the traditional migratory and grazing route of the “Gaddis”, the colourful, semi-nomadic Hindu shepherds who belong to the Kangra and Chamba districts. Each spring, they bring their flocks from the foothills of the Kangra, over the Dhauladhar to the Ravi valley. From there they go higher across the Pir Panjal to the main Himalaya, and on to the rich grazing grounds of the Lingti valley in Spiti.

7.
Parang La : 16 days in Ladakh
This remote trail follows the traditional trade route between the people of Spiti, Changthang and Tibet. It begins in the high altitude meadows of Kibber, breeding ground of the famous Spiti horses and also known to be snow leopard country.
A challenging trek for the enthusiastic walker in one of the more spectacular areas of Ladakh recently open.

8.
Darcha -Padum (Shingo La) Trek : 18 days in Ladakh
One of the popular treks leading to the Zanskar valley. The trek takes one through the many Zanskar villages and various monasteries therein. A slow ascent up to the pass and then a steep descent to the Tsarap river brings one right into the heart of the Zanskar. The trail follows the river most of the way.

9.
Gaumukh Tapovan Trek : 8 days in Uttarakhand
An area which has been attracting people for centuries.
The trek starts from the 18th century temple of Gangotri and goes beyond the source of Ganga to the meadow of Tapovan, favourite spot for sadhus meditating in the Himalayas.
Gaumukh, the snout of the glacier, Tapovan and the mighty peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas definitely make it a special trek.

10.
Dodital Trek : 6 days in Uttarakhand
A moderate trek which starts from the Bhagirathi valley, goes up to the lake of Dodital (wrapped in perfect wilderness) to the alpine meadows and crosses over at Darwa Pass (4150m) to the Yamuna watershed. Traditionally this trek has been continuously used by the Gujjars, the nomadic herdsmen who get their buffalos to the high meadows every summer and occasionally by the pilgrims / sadhus walking between Gangotri and Yamunotri. We go right up to the Darwa Top and retrace our steps.
